Description
Every period of utter darkness seems to drag on endlessly. The vision of ‘descending into Hell’ does, however, contain a glimmer of hope – for some, this journey has an end. We do not know what awaits us in the future, yet the anticipation of tragedy can in itself be the worst punishment a person can subconsciously impose upon themselves. In this work, I have used one of my favourite motifs: the open chest. Young sheep leap out of it, commonly symbolising delicacy and naivety.
