I’m a visual artist and illustrator based in Poland. I create traditional pencil drawings, watercolor paintings and mixed media illustrations on cotton paper, as well as digital collages. My creative process, which relies predominantly on traditional tools, is lengthy and detail-oriented, and I enjoy delving into these details. For this reason, my artistic worlds are usually contained within small spaces, corresponding to standard book formats.

The source of my creative work is the need to express inner experiences and the inherent desire to establish a connection that transcends words. I like to draw on universally recognisable stories and motifs drawn from art history, myths and the treasures of spiritual wisdom. Within them, I include symbols which correspond to different hidden meanings. Some of them are widely recognisable, while some are part of my inner symbolic language.

Some of the particularly significant themes in my works are:

– Body & internal anatomy – the structure of organs and flesh holds the secret of life and bears witness to emotions reflected in somatic phenomena.

– Animals – they were the subject of my very first drawings. Similarly, they were the subject of the first man-made images in known history. Symbolically, they have carried many various messages through ages. I believe that today, they can also convey a variety of meanings that reflect the current condition of the world.

– Hybrid beasts – oddities and monstrosities – telling a story of non-conformity, which has two faces: the joy of a unique perception of the world and the piercing pain of rejection.

My works often combine dark and whimsical motifs, whilst maintaining an air of tenderness. Some of them aim to explore psychological suffering and reveal its various aspects for therapeutic purposes. I treat them as an intricate reliquary in which I store and examine what overwhelms me.
