Inanna’s descent into the Underworld

Traditional watercolor triptych illustrating the myth of ancient sumerian goddess Inanna; the goddess of life that has travelled to the World of the Dead and rose back into the World of the Living. Beneath the ground, where the dead lie covered in dust, Inanna meets her twin sister, Ereshkigal. Her dark twin, envious for the Crown of the Living, condemns our heroine to death. Illustrations were inspired by the book by Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk - "Anna In in the Catacombs", where the main character embarks on the journey of the mythical goddess in a world reminiscent of cyber-dystopia. This results in a fusion of two radically different aesthetic concepts - a glimpse into the humanity's long forgotten cradle and a vision of a high-tech tomorrow - both equally intriguing and disturbing at once.
